Silver Lake is at the southern end of Belleville, bordered by Newark Avenue in Bloomfield and Bloomfield Avenue in Newark. It is a census-designated place of about a third of a square mile, shared with Bloomfield, with most of its residents on the Belleville side. The name comes from a lake about 300 feet wide and a half-mile long that formed after Jasper Crane built a dam in 1730. The lake lasted more than 150 years; today the name lives on in the neighborhood and its light rail station.

Silver Lake station, opened June 22, 2002, is the only Newark Light Rail station in Belleville, with service to Newark Penn Station. The Newark-bound platform is reached from Franklin Street, and the Grove Street-bound platform from nearby Belmont Avenue.

If you've decided that you are buying or selling your home, your first thought when choosing a realtor is probably "who do I know?". You want a realtor who has some kind of connection to you, in the hopes that they will, actually, look out for your best interest. I hired Dennis in the summer of 2025, to sell my house and help me into a new one. It wasn't an easy sale and my needs in a new house, were complicated at best. Dennis attacked this situation with serious energy and a critical attention to detail. My home sold pretty quickly and by October we were ready to wrap everything up. We loaded everything we owned into a truck and headed to the closing, but the best laid plans are laid to waste. There was an issue with the home I was buying, due to an error on the seller's part. What were we supposed to do now? When it became clear that we were stuck and with no place to stay, Dennis stepped in and set us up with temporary lodging near the new house. We were there for a few days while the issue was corrected. To this day whenever my son and I drive past that hotel, we wave to the "old house". I'm told that these snags are common in real estate transactions. You know what's not common? Your realtor going way out of the way to make sure you're ok at every step of the process.
