The Short Take

Elberon At A Glance

Elberon is the southern section of Long Branch, from Lake Takanassee in the north to the borough of Deal in the south. It is an unincorporated part of the city with the 07740 ZIP code and its own train station.

The name comes from founder L. B. Brown. From 1866 to 1867 Lewis B. Brown bought about 400 acres, created "Brown's Park" and built Ocean Avenue through the area.

Known For Presidential History

Presidents Arthur, Garfield, Grant, Harrison, Hayes, McKinley and Wilson all visited Elberon. The Church of the Presidents on Ocean Avenue, where all seven worshiped, is the only building left in Long Branch tied to them, and the Garfield Tea House is here too.

Flood Zones And Schools

Before you make an offer, look up the address on FEMA's Flood Map Service Center and ask the seller for the flood zone and any elevation certificate. Dennis Mark can pull the flood zone for any home you're considering.

The district does not publish an online school finder, so ask it which school serves an exact address.
