The Short Take

West End At A Glance

The West End covers the area around Brighton, Ocean, Cedar and Second Avenues, from the railroad tracks east to the boardwalk and beach, with Lake Takanassee on its south edge.

It was once known as "Hollywood", after John Hoey, who arrived in 1862, bought 273 acres from the Green family and built his Hollywood House mansion. The old Hollywood Avenue train station stood off Brighton Avenue.

Know Before You Buy

Flood Zones And Schools

Before you make an offer, look up the address on FEMA's Flood Map Service Center and ask the seller for the flood zone and any elevation certificate. Dennis Mark can pull the flood zone for any home you're considering.

Long Branch is served by Long Branch Public Schools, pre-K through grade 12, for the whole city: three early childhood centers (Lenna W. Conrow, Joseph M. Ferraina and Morris Avenue), three elementary schools (Amerigo A. Anastasia, George L. Catrambone and Gregory), Long Branch Middle School and Long Branch High School. The district does not publish an online school finder, so ask it which school serves an exact address.

School information is deemed reliable but not guaranteed, and boundaries change often. Verify enrollment with the school district.
