Fair Haven is a small Monmouth County borough on the Navesink River, bordering Red Bank, Rumson, Little Silver and Middletown, and nearly all of its restaurants sit along River Road, with one more on Fair Haven Road. In a few blocks you can find hibachi and sushi, an Italian bistro and market, a diner, a brunch spot, a pizzeria, a coffee roaster and an ice cream shop. I'm Dennis Mark Interdonato with Keller Williams Realty Ocean Living, and when I help buyers look at a town, where they will eat on a Tuesday night matters as much as the kitchen in the house. Here is a look at places in Fair Haven that were open when this guide was updated in September 2026.
Exploring the Culinary Delights
River Road (County Route 10) is Fair Haven's main road, and most of the places below are within a short walk of one another along it. Several are BYOB, so it is worth checking before you go. Hours change, and small restaurants open and close, so call ahead before you make a special trip.
Mouthwatering Recommendations
Nauvoo Grill Club, 121 Fair Haven Road: An upscale-casual American restaurant with its own sushi menu. It opens at 4:30 p.m. daily and takes reservations.
Tavolo Pronto, 610 River Road: An Italian bistro, bakery and market in one, open from breakfast into the evening. The lasagna is a regular on the menu, and you can order ahead for pickup.
Sansu Japanese Steakhouse, 603 River Road: Hibachi tables plus a sushi bar, open into the evening.
Casual Dining and Social Hotspots
Lupo Pizzeria, 757 River Road: A pizzeria known for Detroit-style square pies, along with a Grandma pie, a vodka margherita pie, garlic knots and Nutella cannoli.
No. 1 Chinese Restaurant, 591 River Road: Chinese takeout, with dumplings, chicken chow mein, shrimp with string beans and hot and spicy pork on the menu.
Romantic Dinners and Special Occasions
Nauvoo Grill Club, above, is Fair Haven's main choice for a dinner out, and it takes reservations through OpenTable. For more special-occasion options, Red Bank's downtown is next door (see below).
Starting the Day Right
Over Easy Kitchen, 588 River Road: A BYOB breakfast, brunch and lunch spot open daily from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. Lemon ricotta pancakes and a burrata dish are among the favorites, and there are weekend specials.
Fair Haven Diner, 583 River Road: A BYOB diner serving breakfast all day, with dinner specials on the nights it stays open late.
Booskerdoo Coffee & Baking Co., 793 River Road: A local coffee roaster and bakery. It opens at 6 a.m.
Something Sweet
Nicholas Creamery, 586 River Road: Small-batch ice cream, open from noon into the evening, with flavors like fig and goat cheese, Valrhona chocolate and Tahitian vanilla.
Worth the Short Drive
Fair Haven's neighbors add more choices a few minutes away:
B2 Bistro + Bar, 141 Shrewsbury Avenue, Red Bank: A garden-to-table American and Mediterranean bistro with brunch.
Bagelmasters, 661 Broad Street, Shrewsbury: A bagel shop.
Fair Haven fits a lot of everyday dining onto River Road, and many of these places are within walking distance of the homes on the streets around it. If you are thinking about buying or selling in Fair Haven, I'm Dennis Mark Interdonato, and I'm glad to talk through the borough with you, from River Road to the blocks near the Navesink.
