Blackwood is an unincorporated community and census-designated place in Gloucester Township, Camden County, covering about 1.2 square miles. John Blackwood settled here about 1750 at the head of Timber Creek, and the village, first called Blackwoodtown, grew as a crossroads on the Black Horse Pike, with a stagecoach stop by the 1830s and the Camden County Railroad from 1891.

The Blackwood Historic District, on the National Register since 1989, covers 42 acres along the Black Horse Pike, Church and Elm streets and the Railroad avenues, with 87 contributing buildings. Blackwood Lake was a summer resort from 1891 to 1932, and the paved Gloucester Township Health and Fitness Trail follows the old railroad line past a restored caboose. Camden County College's main campus has a Blackwood address on College Drive. About 70 percent of occupied homes are owner-occupied, by Census estimate.
