Deal is an oceanfront borough in Monmouth County, between Allenhurst and Long Branch, with a little over a square mile of land. The name goes back to about 1670, when Thomas White, a carpenter from Deal in Kent, England, bought land along the shore here. Norwood Avenue, laid out as the Long Branch and Deal Turnpike, is still the town's main street and carries Route 71 through the small business district.

Deal is almost entirely residential. About 90 percent of the homes are single-family detached houses, and the median year built is 1944 (Census Bureau survey, 2020 to 2024); they include large houses along Ocean Avenue. In summer, the borough's Conover Pavilion, open to the public, and the Deal Casino Beach Club, a membership club, are the center of town on the ocean.

Deal sits on the Monmouth County coast between Allenhurst and Long Branch. Route 71 (Norwood Avenue) is the only state highway in town, and Routes 35, 18, 66 and the Garden State Parkway are reached through neighboring towns. NJ Transit trains stop at the nearby Allenhurst and Elberon stations on the North Jersey Coast Line, and the 837 bus serves the area. The center of town is about 35 miles in a straight line from Penn Station in Manhattan. If you are weighing a move in or out of Deal, ask Dennis Mark for a current market snapshot.
