Eagleswood Township covers about 16 square miles of land in southern Ocean County, between Stafford Township and Little Egg Harbor Township, with salt marsh running east to the bay across from Long Beach Island. Its main village is West Creek, where the municipal building is, and it also takes in Staffordville, Stafford Forge and Parker Cove. The township was incorporated in 1874, but settlement goes back to 1705, when Gervas Pharo built a house on West Street.

Homes are mostly detached single-family houses, and the township notes that many homes built by sea captains in West Creek still stand. The salt marshes draw bird watchers, photographers, anglers and hunters, and West Creek is where the first sneakbox duck boat was built in 1836. Eagles Nest Airport, a general aviation field, is in West Creek.
