High Point is the section of Harvey Cedars the borough's history places between 87th Street and Sussex Avenue, and Wikipedia describes it as the part of the borough at a higher elevation. The borough's post office was first called High Point; in the 1930s the name was changed at the request of the Postal Service to tell it apart from High Point in Sussex County. The name lives on in the High Point Volunteer Fire Company.

Known For Kinsey And Lee
Development began in 1884, when Josiah Buzby Kinsey and Isaac Lee each bought tracts in High Point. Kinsey's general store at the northeast corner of 78th Street and the Boulevard and his yacht club on the bayfront at 78th are both still standing, and his name remains in Kinsey Cove. Lee ran pound fishing off High Point.

The Homes Cottages To Shore Homes
About three dozen cottages had been built from Kinsey Cove to Lee Avenue by the 1920s, and High Point grew steadily through that decade. Today most housing in Harvey Cedars is seasonal homes.

Living There Beach Days
Harvey Cedars requires beach badges on all of its beaches for anyone 12 or older, beginning June 15 in 2026. The borough also preserved meadowland along the bay as Sunset Park.

Getting Around Long Beach Boulevard
Long Beach Boulevard (County Route 607) is the main road through Harvey Cedars. Ocean County Ride's OC9 LBI North bus runs between Barnegat Light and Manahawkin, and the free LBI Shuttle runs along the Boulevard. Route 72 and Garden State Parkway Exit 63 lead to Long Beach Island from the mainland.

If you've decided that you are buying or selling your home, your first thought when choosing a realtor is probably "who do I know?". You want a realtor who has some kind of connection to you, in the hopes that they will, actually, look out for your best interest. I hired Dennis in the summer of 2025, to sell my house and help me into a new one. It wasn't an easy sale and my needs in a new house, were complicated at best. Dennis attacked this situation with serious energy and a critical attention to detail. My home sold pretty quickly and by October we were ready to wrap everything up. We loaded everything we owned into a truck and headed to the closing, but the best laid plans are laid to waste. There was an issue with the home I was buying, due to an error on the seller's part. What were we supposed to do now? When it became clear that we were stuck and with no place to stay, Dennis stepped in and set us up with temporary lodging near the new house. We were there for a few days while the issue was corrected. To this day whenever my son and I drive past that hotel, we wave to the "old house". I'm told that these snags are common in real estate transactions. You know what's not common? Your realtor going way out of the way to make sure you're ok at every step of the process.
