Keansburg is a bayfront borough in northern Monmouth County on Raritan Bay, with views across the water to the New York City skyline. It has only about 1.07 square miles of land, and most of its total area is water. The beachfront along Beachway is home to Keansburg Amusement Park, a family-owned park in operation since 1904, and Runaway Rapids Waterpark in the same area, along with a fishing pier and two wooden Bay Walks down to a free public beach.

The town was a steamboat resort for New Yorkers in the early 1900s and took its name in 1884 from John Kean, who helped it get a post office. Housing is a mix: about 56 percent of homes are single-family detached houses, and the rest include attached homes, two- to four-family buildings and apartments, with a median year built of 1960 (Census Bureau survey, 2020 to 2024). The Henry Hudson Trail, a paved rail trail, runs through the Bayshore nearby.
