Ocean Gate is a small borough in Ocean County on the Toms River, surrounded on land by Berkeley Township. It covers less than half a square mile. Its beaches and boardwalk are open year-round, and the boardwalk looks out over the Toms River from the Ocean Gate Yacht Club to the east end of town.

The town began as a summer cottage colony at a spot called Good Luck Point, served by Pennsylvania Railroad trains, and it became a borough in 1918. About 97 percent of the homes are single-family detached houses, and the median year built is 1956, according to the Census Bureau survey for 2020 to 2024. In summer there are guarded beaches at Wildwood and Anglesea avenues and a splash park on East Longport Avenue.
