Ocean Township is a Barnegat Bay township in southern Ocean County, better known by the name of its largest community, Waretown. It is a separate town from Ocean Township in Monmouth County. The township runs from the shore of Barnegat Bay on the east into Pinelands forest on the west, and all of it lies within the Pinelands Area or the Pinelands National Reserve.

Wells Mills County Park, the largest park in the Ocean County system, has more than 900 acres of pine and oak forest, trails around Wells Mills Lake and a three-story nature center. Albert Music Hall on Wells Mills Road carries on the Saturday-night bluegrass, country and Pinelands music shows that began in 1974 (the current hall was dedicated in 1997). Homes are mostly detached single-family houses, and about 88% of occupied homes are owner-occupied.
