Point Pleasant is an Ocean County borough on the Manasquan River, about 47 miles from Penn Station in Manhattan in a straight line. The Point Pleasant Canal, completed in 1924, divides the borough in half, and drivers cross it on the Route 88 and Lovelandtown bridges. It is a separate town from Point Pleasant Beach, though the two share the 08742 ZIP code.

The borough runs two river beaches, at Maxson Avenue and River Avenue, beside Riverfront Park, which holds the October Fireworks Festival. Community Park on Bridge Avenue hosts the holiday tree lighting, Bridge Avenue and Route 88 are the main shopping streets, and the Vintage Automobile Museum of New Jersey is on Bay Avenue. The ocean beaches are next door in Point Pleasant Beach and Bay Head.
