The Short Take

Lovelandtown At A Glance

Lovelandtown is generally defined as the part of Point Pleasant east of the Point Pleasant Canal and south of Bridge Avenue, next to Bay Head. It was the first community settled in the area: a village of baymen whose first home went up in 1817 on today's Bay Avenue. It is entirely within the borough of Point Pleasant.

Known For The Baymen's Village

The village is named for Charles Loveland, whose family produced generations of baymen: boat builders, fishermen, decoy carvers and guides. The Lovelandtown Bridge, a lift bridge on Bridge Avenue (Route 13), carries the name too.

Know Before You Buy

Flood Zones And Schools

Before you make an offer, look up the address on FEMA's Flood Map Service Center and ask the seller for the flood zone and any elevation certificate. Dennis Mark can pull the flood zone for any home you're considering.

The borough is served by the Point Pleasant School District, with two elementary schools (Nellie F. Bennett and Ocean Road), Memorial Middle School and Point Pleasant Borough High School. Ocean Road Elementary School is at 1210 Benedict Street east of the canal, and Nellie F. Bennett Elementary School is at 2000 Riviera Parkway across the canal. The district did not publish an attendance map we could find, so ask the district which elementary school serves a specific address.

School information is deemed reliable but not guaranteed, and boundaries change often. Verify enrollment with the school district.
