Point Pleasant Beach is an oceanfront borough at the northern end of the Barnegat Peninsula in Ocean County, bounded by the Manasquan Inlet and River on the north. It is a separate town from Point Pleasant, its neighbor to the west. The borough grew as a resort from the 1870s, and the railroad arrived in 1880.

The mile-long boardwalk runs from the Manasquan Inlet to New Jersey Avenue, with rides, arcades, miniature golf, food stands and Jenkinson's Aquarium in the middle stretch. Away from the boardwalk, the borough required homes rebuilt after Hurricane Sandy to be raised on pilings, and docks and waterfront homes line Lake Louise and the inlet.
