Roosevelt is a borough of about 2 square miles in western Monmouth County, between Millstone Township and Upper Freehold Township. It was built in the 1930s as Jersey Homesteads, a New Deal cooperative community of garment workers and farmers planned by Benjamin Brown, with Louis Kahn as assistant architect, and it was renamed for President Franklin D. Roosevelt in 1945.

The whole borough is the Jersey Homesteads Historic District, listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983. Its homes are mostly the original homestead houses and other single-family homes, set around farmland and woods. Ben Shahn's fresco mural of the town's founding can be seen in the Roosevelt Public School, and the Assunpink Wildlife Management Area reaches into the borough.
