Tuckerton is a small borough in southern Ocean County, surrounded by Little Egg Harbor Township, with which it shares the 08087 ZIP code. Settled in 1699 and named for Ebenezer Tucker, collector of the port when it became a U.S. Port of Entry in 1791, it grew as a shipping and fishing village along Tuckerton Creek and the Great Bay.

Main Street runs past Lake Pohatcong and the Tuckerton Seaport, a 40-acre maritime museum and village with a re-created Tuckers Island lighthouse. Tip Seaman Park on the lake and the Tuckerton Seaport host the Old Time Barnegat Bay Decoy & Gunning Show every September, and South Green Street Park has a fishing pier on the Great Bay. Homes range from detached single-family houses, the majority, to townhouses, mobile homes and apartments.
