West Long Branch is a Monmouth County borough of about three square miles, bordered by Long Branch, Eatontown, Oceanport and Ocean Township. It split from Eatontown in 1908 and takes its name from Long Branch, its neighbor to the east, but it is a separate town with its own schools and government.

The borough is home to Monmouth University, whose 155-acre campus includes the Great Hall at Shadow Lawn, now Woodrow Wilson Hall, a National Historic Landmark seen in the 1982 film Annie, and the Guggenheim Library in the 1903 Murry Guggenheim House. Shore Regional High School is also in the borough. Homes are mostly detached single-family houses, with some townhouses and apartments.
