Holmdel is a township of about 18 square miles in northern Monmouth County, near Raritan Bay. It is known for Bell Labs: the mirrored Holmdel Complex designed by Eero Saarinen is now Bell Works, a mixed-use building on the National Register of Historic Places, and the Horn Antenna on Crawford Hill, Monmouth County's highest point, is where scientists found evidence for the Big Bang in 1964.

Holmdel Park covers 565 acres, with Longstreet Farm, a living history farm set in the 1890s, and the Holmdel Arboretum. The PNC Bank Arts Center hosts summer concerts next to the New Jersey Vietnam Veterans Memorial, and 18th-century farmhouses such as the Holmes-Hendrickson House still stand. About 92 percent of occupied homes are owner-occupied, by Census count.
