Red Bank is a borough in northern Monmouth County on the south bank of the Navesink River, named for the red soil along its shore. Its downtown runs along Broad Street and the connecting Monmouth, Front and White streets, which together form the Broad Street Historic District, with shops, restaurants and two stages: the Count Basie Center for the Arts, named for the jazz bandleader who was born in Red Bank, and the Two River Theater.

The borough has about 4 miles of waterfront, with Marine Park, Riverside Gardens Park and Maple Cove Park on the Navesink, where ice boats sail in the coldest winters. Homes range from single-family houses to condominiums and apartments, with about half of occupied homes owner-occupied, and the area around the train station is being redeveloped as a walkable, mixed-use neighborhood.
