Twin Pond Farm is a garden center and country market on Route 9 North in Howell Township, with the Garden Center at 1459 Route 9 North and the Country Market & Deli next door at 1473 Route 9 North, and the same family has owned and run it since 1923.

If you drive Route 9 through Howell, you've probably passed it. This fall, the farm is taking online orders for its 2026 Thanksgiving pies, so it's a good time to learn what's inside. Here's the story behind the name, what the market and garden center carry, and what the streets and homes are like along this part of Route 9.

What is Twin Pond Farm?

Twin Pond Farm is two businesses side by side. The Garden Center sells plants, shrubs, pond supplies, fertilizer and seed, mulch, stone, firewood and outdoor furniture. The Country Market & Deli sells produce, baked goods and food made from scratch in its own kitchen.

The farm has a longer history than the buildings. Giacinto DiGregorio rented five acres in Brooklyn in 1923 and sold his produce at the Washington Street Market in New York City. In 1950 he bought a farm in Cheesequake, New Jersey. After selling it in 1965, he bought farmland in Howell fed by two ponds and the Manasquan River. Those two ponds gave the farm its name.

His son Angelo later took over. The farm stand on Route 524 opened in 1986. Angelo, his wife and their three sons then bought the Route 9 property, where a chicken farm once stood, and the Garden Center opened there in 1995. The Country Market followed in 2006, on the property next door. The farm says four generations have now worked the business.

Where is Twin Pond Farm and when is it open?

Both stores are on Route 9 North in Howell, NJ 07731, and both are open seven days a week:

  • Country Market & Deli, 1473 Route 9 North. It opens Monday through Saturday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
  • Garden Center, 1459 Route 9 North. It opens Monday through Saturday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.

The farm notes that Garden Center hours vary by season and depend on the weather, and it may close up to an hour early in bad weather. Check the Twin Pond Farm hours page before a winter trip.

The farm also runs two seasonal spots over the line in Freehold: a farm stand at 679 Adelphia Road, and Harvest at 49 Howell Road, its fall site for a corn maze and pumpkin picking. Both have wrapped up for the 2026 season, and the farm says Harvest returns in fall 2027.

What can you buy at the Country Market?

Pies are the thing the farm says it's known for most. They're baked fresh every day, and the list runs from apple, pumpkin, pecan and sweet potato to key lime, French silk, lemon meringue and strawberry rhubarb. Sugar-free apple, blueberry and cherry pies are on the list too.

The kitchen also bakes muffins, scones, cookies and brownies every day. Then there are the apple cider donuts, made daily in three flavors: powdered, cinnamon sugar and plain.

The market serves hot breakfast sandwiches and coffee in the morning, a sandwich menu and daily specials at lunch, and Boar's Head meats and cheeses by the pound. For dinner, the deli case carries entrees and sides made with the farm's own produce when it's in season, such as zucchini parmigiana and honey mustard chicken salad. A full catering menu covers parties.

How do Thanksgiving pie orders work this year?

Thanksgiving pies are open for pre-order now on the farm's online shop. The market no longer takes pie orders by phone, so the online shop is the way to order.

Pickup for 2026 runs on three days, from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day: Monday, November 23, Tuesday, November 24, and Wednesday, November 25, 2026. Delivery and shipping aren't available. The Country Market & Deli and the Garden Center are both closed on Thursday, November 26, 2026, Thanksgiving Day, so plan your pickup for earlier in the week.

What does the Garden Center carry in the colder months?

Firewood is the cold-weather item. The farm sells aged firewood that's kept dry, by the bundle or by the cord. Delivery is available for a charge, and you set it up through the Country Market.

The pond department is the part of the Garden Center the farm talks about most. It started as a small section at the back of the store and grew into a full department of pond products. The Garden Center holds free educational seminars in the spring and fall, including pond seminars, so watch its event calendar if you're planning a backyard pond for next year.

What are the streets and homes like along Route 9 in Howell?

Route 9 runs north and south through western Howell. Howell covers about 60 square miles, the most land of any town in Monmouth County, and crop farms, nurseries and horse farms remain across the township.

Along Route 9 north of the Interstate 195 interchange is Freewood Acres, a grid of streets on both sides of the highway made up mainly of single-story homes. Records show homes there built from 1920 to 2021, about 848 to 2,100 square feet, on lots of up to an acre.

Route 9 is also a commuter road. NJ TRANSIT buses run to the Port Authority Bus Terminal from the Aldrich Road Park & Ride and the Route 9 at Strickland Road Park & Ride.

Why Twin Pond Farm matters for Howell

A business that started on five rented acres in 1923 and is still run by the same family says a lot about a town that kept its farmland. Howell still has room for a working farm business on Route 9, and that's the kind of thing you won't see on a listing sheet.
